Android Battery Optimization Workarounds
This article will help you find and exclude the Avicenna app from the battery optimization settings on various Android phones. While the settings are different depending on the device’s manufacturer, you can usually find these settings under Battery Optimization or Battery Saver.
Samsung
Depending on the Android version you are using on your Samsung device , you can follow the instructions below to allow the Avicenna app to work while not open.
Android 11
On android 11, to keep the Avicenna app working properly in the background, there are two main settings that you should check.
- Manage battery usage
- Go to Settings -> Apps
- Search for the Avicenna app and then click on Battery
- Tap on Optimize battery usage
- Switch to All apps listing
- Find the Avicenna app and turn off Battery optimization.
- Auto-optimize daily
- Go to Settings -> Battery and device care
- Click on the three dots menu, and then tap Automation
- Make sure that Auto-optimize daily is disabled.
Android 12
If your Samsung phone is running android 12, you should check 3 main settings to ensure the optimal operation of the Avicenna app.
- Manage battery usage
- Go to Settings -> Apps
- Find the Avicenna app and tap Battery
- Select Unrestricted.
- Sleep mode
- Go to Settings -> Battery and device care
- Tap Battery -> Background usage limits
- Disable Put unused apps to sleep.
- Auto-optimize daily
- Go to Settings -> Battery and device care
- Click on the three dots menu and then tap Automation
- Disable Auto-optimize daily and Adaptive power saving.
Xiaomi
On Xiaomi phones running Android 10 and above, the battery optimization functions are very restrictive and sometimes may keep the Avicenna app in sleep mode. For this reason, we recommend disabling battery optimization functions for the Avicenna app. This ensures optimal operation when the app is working in the background.
Android 10 and above
On your Xiaomi device, follow the instructions below to disable battery optimization.
- Navigate to Settings -> Apps
- Select Manage Apps
- Find the Avicenna app and click on Battery Saver
- From the options available, choose No restrictions.
OnePlus
Like many other android phones, OnePlus uses one of the most restrictive battery optimization functions. To disable this function on your OnePlus phone and ensure the optimal operation of the Avicenna app, follow these steps.
Android 11
To make sure that the Avicenna app runs properly in the background, you should check 3 main settings:
- Battery optimization settings
- Go to Settings -> Battery -> Battery Optimization
- Switch to All apps from the drop-down filter
- Click on the Avicenna app and select Don't optimize.
- Apps & Notification settings
- Go to Settings -> Apps & notifications
- Click on Special app access
- Select the Avicenna app and switch off Battery optimization.
- Sleep settings
- Go to Settings -> Battery
- Click on Battery Optimization
- Tap the three dots menu and select Advanced optimization
- Disable Deep optimization and Sleep standby optimization.
Android 12
- Open phone Settings > Apps
- Find the Avicenna app and click on Battery usage
- Make sure that Allow foreground activity, Allow background activity, and Allow auto-launch are turned ON.
Oppo
Oppo phones have a built-in battery saving function that manages the battery usage of the apps installed on the device. However, as expected, these Battery Optimization settings terminate apps, such as the Avicenna app, that rely on background processing. To make sure that our app works without any restrictions in the background, follow these instructions.
Android 11
If your Oppo phone is running android 11, you need to check 2 main settings:
- Power saving mode
- Go to Settings and tap on Battery.
- Disable Power saving mode and Super power saving mode.
- More battery settings
- Open Settings
- Go to Battery -> More battery settings
- Tap Optimize battery usage
- Find the Avicenna app and choose Don't optimize.
Android 12 and 13
- Open your phone Settings
- Select Apps and find the Avicenna app
- Tap Battery and select Unrestricted.
Huawei
Traditionally, Huawei and their customized Android skin called EMUI has had one of the most restrictive background processing limitations. On default settings, background processing does not work right and apps working in background stop working. A possible workaround is to disable battery optimization. So if you have a Huawei phone, follow the steps below to let the Avicenna app run properly in the background.
Android 10, 11, and 12
- Go to Settings -> Apps -> Apps
- Tap on the three dots at the top of the screen and then on Special access
- Select Battery optimization
- Find the Avicenna app, and tap on Don’t Allow to disable battery optimization.
Google Pixel
By default, Pixel phones have the battery optimization function on, which allows apps to use the phone’s battery only when you need them to. This can get in the way of the Avicenna app working properly in the background. That’s why, we recommend that you follow the instructions below and disable battery optimization on your Pixel device.
Android 11
There are 2 main settings to check on Pixel phones running android 11.
- Battery Optimization settings
- Open Settings -> Battery
- Tap on the three dots menu, and then on Battery Optimization
- Select the Avicenna app and make sure that it’s Not optimized
- Go back to Settings -> Apps & Notifications
- Click on Advanced, and then on Special app access
- Tap Battery optimization and make sure that the Avicenna app is on the Not optimized list.
- Adaptive Battery settings
- Go to Settings and select Battery
- Click on Adaptive Battery and then tap disable.
Android 12
- Open Settings -> Apps
- Find and click on the Avicenna app
- Tap Battery and select Unrestricted.
Sony
Sony devices have their own unique feature called Stamina Mode. This mode, when enabled, prevents all the background processes to save battery consumption. To deactivate the Stamina Mode for the Avicenna app to work properly,
- Go to Settings -> Battery -> Stamina Mode
- Tap the switch to disable this function.
There are also some other adjustments that you can make in the settings to ensure that the Avicenna app is not affected by aggressive battery optimization.
- Go to Settings -> Battery
- Tap the 3-dots menu in the top right corner
- Select Battery optimization and then Apps
- Find the Avicenna app and make sure that it's not being optimized to save battery.
Additionally, you can make the Avicenna app exempt from the power saving feature. To do this,
- Go to Settings -> Apps & Notifications
- Select Advanced -> Special app access -> Power saving feature
- Find the Avicenna app and switch to Excepted.
